Criteria for using Digital Regulations onboard Bahamas Flag Ships

  1. The digital media shall be obtained and be capable of being updated from a genuine source, i.e., one which does not infringe copyright;
  2. the digital media shall be available to the Officer of the Watch (OOW), without limitations, from the bridge;
  3. the computer used shall be dedicated for information storage and retrieval and shall be connected always to the main and emergency power supplies; and
  4. backup of the digital media shall be ensured, for example, by additionally installing on an alternative, independent computer which shall also be made available to the OOW within a short period of time.

The assessment of the suitability of the electronic product for use onboard should be carried out by the ship's technical manager ("Company" as defined under the ISM Code), taking into account the above guidance.
